The house
Marko built it with his father
The cabin is made of Tara fir and went up in 2014 at the edge of a pine forest. Mornings here begin with mist rising slowly from the valley.
Jelena took care of everything the photos don't show: thick blankets, mugs for tea, books on the shelf by the fireplace. We live in the village, two minutes down the road. Close enough to help, far enough not to disturb you.

Tara starts at the door
Tara National Park is forest, water and silence at a thousand metres. A trail through the pines starts at our gate, the lake is five minutes by car, and the Banjska Stena viewpoint is half an hour away.

We light the hot tub before you are back, breakfast arrives in a basket, and Marko is happy to walk you to the viewpoint. Add anything with one tap and it goes on the same bill.

The price is per night, for the whole cabin and up to 4 guests. Firewood, bed linen, towels and tourist tax are included.

We woke up in the mist, and by noon it was all sunshine and the lake. The hot tub in the evening, under the stars — the kids are still talking about it.
The house smells of wood and coffee. Jelena welcomed us with a basket and warm cornbread. The calmest weekend of the year.
We came with our dog and nobody minded. The trail starts at the gate, and Marko showed us where to pick blueberries.
We came for two nights and stayed four. Quiet, warm and spotless. The view from the terrace is worth every minute of the drive.
Minus ten outside, twenty-two inside. The fireplace and underfloor heating do their job, and the road was cleared right up to the house.
Location
The road leads through the forest
Zaovine is a small village on Mount Tara, above the lake. The road is paved to the village, and the house is at the end of a forest track.

The last 800 m are gravel. An ordinary car makes it easily. In winter we let you know about the road before you set off.

Good to know
If you don't find the answer here, just ask us. We reply the same day, usually within minutes.
When is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 14:00, check-out by 11:00. If you need more time, you can add a late check-out until 4 pm to your stay.
Can I bring my pet?
You can. Dogs and cats are welcome for €10 per stay. We only ask that they don't sleep on the beds — we have a blanket for them.
What is the house like in winter?
Warm. The ground floor has underfloor heating and the living room a fireplace. Firewood is included and there is plenty for every evening.
What is the road to the house like?
Paved all the way to the village, then 800 m of gravel through the forest. In summer any car gets through. In winter we clear the road, but we recommend winter tyres and chains in the boot.
Is there internet?
Yes — Starlink, fast enough for video calls and films. Mobile signal is weaker in the forest, so the WiFi is the way to go.
How do I pay the deposit?
Once we confirm your dates, you pay a 30% deposit — by bank transfer or instant payment. The rest is paid on arrival, in cash or by card.
What if I have to cancel?
Up to 14 days before arrival we refund the deposit in full. After that we're happy to move it to other dates within a year.
What should I bring?
Yourself and good walking shoes. Bed linen, towels, a hairdryer, spices and coffee are on us. Bring a swimsuit for the hot tub.
